Last Day of 2008...

Wow, is it really the last day of 2008? I can't believe that this year is already over...Charley is 10 months old!! The next big thing is her FIRST Birthday!! Unreal.

My last day of 2008 wasn't stellar - but I tracked and I went over my points again today and almost killed all of my weekly points - I'd have been ok if today wasn't an rest day for training, but it is so I move on.

I was going to go to a friends house tonight - but with my car still in the shop and the timing of the party--Charley goes to bed at 7-7:30 and the party was at 8:30 so I'd have had to wake her up to take her to the party then put her back to bed. So I decided to stay home - and am glad I did. Charley is already asleep I can get my post up and then I think I am going to bed. Jimmy is working at the bar tonight - a long night for him - they are open until at least 4 :(

Now for the new year there are a few things I'd like to achieve - I am not going to go into weight etc...because that is not on my list. Here is what is:
  • I want to be healthy and be able to keep up with everything that Charley is going to bring to us this year
  • I want to finish my 1/2 marathon in March
  • I want to complete another (or two) Sprint Triathlons this year
  • I want to purge our house of all the necessary clutter - It would make our live so much more relaxing if we didn't have so much stuff and could find things when we need them
  • I want to help Charley grow into a wonderful, caring, responsible, little girl
  • I want to take every possibility that 2009 brings and live it to the fullest!
Tomorrow we are running in the Resolution 5K - we were supposed to do 3 miles today for our training and then have a rest day tomorrow, but we switched it since we are running the 5k tomorrow - I think this might be a standard weekly thing though, since on Wednesday's Jimmy works at the bar and we like to train and go to the gym together - so we might switch our Thursday's and Wednesday's workouts.

Well today was my last day at work it was kind of bittersweet - there was really no one in the office, which was probably a good thing, because I am going to miss everyone there very much - they were all amazing and great coworkers - I can honestly say - the best I have ever worked with...but I must move on.

My new boss called me today and told me how excited he is that I am coming there next week - so that is good. It is just hard going in and not knowing anyone and not knowing the environment. I have to go back to my old office next Friday for my official goodbye - so I will at least get to see and say goodbye to everyone I missed due to the holidays, so that will be nice.

I did come home to something that made me a little excited about my new job - a big FedEx package from them. I was saying to Jimmy tonight on our drive home how I hadn't heard from the people at my new job and had no idea what time I had to be at the office etc (the contracting company that I am working for is having me come to their office for inprocessing on Monday - so I won't actually be working with the people I meet there - just working for them). And so when I got home and saw the big box and in it was a really nice coffee (or in my case tea) travel mug, a big huge leather binder/portfolio, with a really nice pen and it was filled with a schedule of everything that I am doing and need to have done before I go on Monday! It is all really nice, laid out and they seem like a pretty squared away company. It is great to go from working for the past 2 companies I have worked for - which were a little less desirable in this department - to a great company. It seems like this is a major step in the right direction for my career and our future. So 2009 HERE I COME!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! Thank you for all of your love, support and friendship!! Here is to making 2009 Rock just as much if not more then 2008!!

First Day of Training...and my new FitBook!

Well today was the first day of 1/2 marathon training and it went well we had a 3 mile run on the schedule - we were going to run outside - but then the temperature dropped big time so we opted for the gym. Here is my run from my Nike+ at the end Tiger Woods came on and told me I ran one of my fastest miles yet :) I did walk twice during the 3 miles once for 1 minute at 1 mile and once for 1 minute at 2 miles. Then I hauled butt the last mile.

Tomorrow is cross training or 2 miles - I have decided that I am going to do cross training on days when running is not required so that I won't burn out on the running. So tomorrow we are back to the gym for our cross training and I think we are going to do some ab work too.

My FitBook came!! It actually came on Saturday - but today at work was the first time I had a chance to sit down and fill it all in. I LOVE IT!! Jimmy and I are sharing it...we both put our weight and measurements on the goal page and he is following the workout plan with me - he just doesn't write down everything he eats - if he did we'd have a novel!! The boy eats and eats :)

Here are some pics of my FitBook there is a 12 week planning page where I filled in our entire 1/2 marathon training. There is a weekly planning page as well as daily planning pages and daily food journal pages. There are also 2 pages that I didn't take pictures of - one is of the measurements page and one is the 12 week goal plan page - I will take pictures of them and post them at the end of 12 weeks so that you all can see how far we came :)

Here is our 12 week 1/2 Marathon Training Plan on the PLAN! Page :)

Here is our Week One Plan and my Weekly Goals

Here is our Day One Journal (my food) and our workout

Here is the back of the FitBook - there is a pocket for your gym membership card or some money - and as you can see there is something paper clipped to the back of my book - it is Michelle's post from Friday December 26th...you can read it here :)

And last but not least is my menu for today - I am making it a goal for this week to track and post my menu every day through Saturday...I did eat a lot today - but since I haven't tracked in a long time - I didn't do too bad...

Alright I have to go...Jimmy just went and picked up a movie for us to watch "Tropic Thunder" it is supposed to be funny. He took off tomorrow so we have all day to hang out :) and the contractor is coming to do some work on our house - I can't wait to get a few things done - once they are done I will post some pics!!

Alright off for some quality time. Until tomorrow...

Back on Track...and tracking I will do...

Well I am back...sorry for the lack of posting, but there is very little time to do all of the things I have to do. The other day I finally got to run for the first time since my surgery and here is my run from my Nike+ I did a total of 30 minutes - however I forgot to start my Nike+ until about 2 minutes in.

The run went well - I have a lot more running in my future though since Jimmy and I signed up to do the Shamrock 1/2 Marathon in Virginia Beach the weekend before I turn 30...eh. Our training starts on the 29th of this month. We have 12 weeks of training - here is the program we are going to follow.

In order to keep myself on track with my training I was looking for a log or journal of some sort and I came across FitBook - I ordered mine 2 days ago and will be expecting it hopefully by the New Year. I can't wait to get it...it looks so neat and is a 12 week training journal - which is going to be PERFECT for my 12 weeks of 1/2 marathon training. It has pages to track by month, day and week. You can also track your food intake in it too!

What is really exciting is that they are coming out with more personalized FitBook's in 2009 - they are going to have some for Mama's 2b, those trying to lose the baby weight (both of which I hope to make use of when baby #2 rolls around) and one for training for a full marathon - that of which I haven't decided if I am up for yet...but might be after the 1/2! So head on over to www.getfitbook.com and check them out! Here is a pic of the book that the wonderful Angela sent me from FitBook - though the website has a lot more details! Stay tuned for a complete review when I receive my new FitBook! What a way to continue my weight loss and start up for 2009!
Alright - off to bed...will post a Christmas Eve/Christmas Post tomorrow...I'm beat!

Merry Christmas All!!!

I GOT THE JOB!!!

They called me yesterday while I was at work and left a message on my cell phone (since I can't have my phone in the office) and when I got out of the office and called they were gone for the day. So I didn't know what the offer was until I called this morning.

So I call...and not only did they offer me the job...but they offered me 16% more then what I make now!! I was pumped! I will get the official offer letter tomorrow!! Just wanted to share my good news!! I'll be back tomorrow with more!!

Catch up...

Well lets see where to begin - I haven't posted since the weekend...what all has happened...lets go to bullets!
  • Monday came and went - I had off from work - so Charley and I headed home to Wilmington via Margie's gift wrapping shop where I got 2 presents wrapped beautifully!
  • Once in Wilmington - we hung out with Grandma and Grandpa all day and finished up some Christmas shopping
  • We all headed back this way stopping for dinner since my parents were watching Charley on Tuesday
  • Tuesday I drove down to Virginia for my job interview - which went AMAZING - it is kind of weird in the field that I am in - a job interview does not consist of talking about the actual job since they don't know what it is I'll be doing :)
  • I am so excited about it - it is going to be a lot more work as I was just going to be working 3 days a week - 8 hour days - but now the benefits are SO AMAZINGLY GOOD that I am going to work three 10 hour days in order to get benefits **for example when I had Charley this past February under our old insurance we had to pay about $1100 after all is said and done and with the new insurance I will have to pay my $10 copay at my first prenatal visit and THAT IS ALL! How freaking cool is that! After the interview when I found this out I called up Jimmy and the first thing I said was "wanna have another baby?" he thought I had lost my mind! :)
  • I am still waiting on the job though - they haven't made me an offer yet - though I know the job is mine. They contacted my 2 references today because they told me, so maybe I'll hear something tomorrow - I just want to know...and hopefully it is REALLY good and will make the holidays great!
  • Tuesday night I had a much needed girls dinner with my friends from college - we laughed so hard telling stories from college.
  • Today I had to work all day and Charley went to her new babysitter - which is a friend of ours and neighbor - so it wasn't traumatizing - for me anyway - she could've cared less! :) She was a good girl as always and had a great time. She is only going to go there one day a week usually, but this week our usuals had Christmas parties and things going on so they couldn't come. So she is going there tomorrow too - she is going to go to her son's Christmas concert - I hope she behaves...but then she loves other kids so I am sure she will have a blast!
  • Tonight I went to my first spin class since before Charley - it was great! I didn't get to stay the whole hour, just 50 minutes since I can only leave Charley in the day care an hour (which she loves now, by the way!) and since I got there 10 min early to make sure I got a bike I had to leave 10 min early, but I still got a great workout!
  • I came home bathed Charley and put her to bed...and then started on my Christmas candy! Fun fun...messy but fun. Now I am taking a break and catching you guys up...but I got sucked into Facebook - and need to get off the computer and get the rest of my stuff done!
Hope all is well! I have 2 videos to share that I think some of you will enjoy - oh and I still have the one of Charley crawling - so hopefully I can get around to posting them this weekend!!

Back to work...

Weekend...

This mornings meeting went well...better then I thought as I was down .6 :) After going out to dinner last night, having a beer and eating way too much food, I definitely thought I'd be up a little or at least the same, but nope! So that was a great surprise to start the morning.

I stayed at the meeting and heard all about the new plan. I like it. I need to eat more filling foods and stop buying 100 calorie packs. Also I am liking the fact that you can use your AP's all week. They didn't discuss this at my meeting, I went up after and asked, because with all of the running I am going to be doing, I figured I needed to know. So she told me a little about it and said I'd learn more next week. Sounds good to me.

Then I rushed to get Jimmy some coffee and head home as we had a sitting time of 10:10 at Picture People at the mall for Charley's Christmas pictures. LESSON LEARNED - Get your Christmas pictures in July!! Heehee ok, not that far away from Christmas, but definitely not TWO weeks away! I don't know what I was thinking, but it was INSANE. We didn't get seen until 10:45ish and by then Charley had enough, so there weren't very many good pics, but at least one or two that we can give people.

Oh well, we still have the amazing ones my friend Margie and her daughter took...of which some of you have been asking about...here are a couple :) Not the ones we used for our cards, but a few of the others since some of you will be getting cards, I didn't want to spoil it :)

Lets see after the picture excitement - we headed home - Charley passed out in the car...and we seriously live less then a mile from the mall! So we put her right in her crib and we all got a much needed nap! Once we got up - Jimmy stayed home with Charley and let me go to the gym - he is wonderful . I could only get in 30 minutes of easy cardio (since I still can't run for another week after my surgery) and had to head home, because we had to get the dogs walked before Jimmy left for work at the bar tonight - he switched shifts with someone - he usually doesn't work weekend nights.

Oh and last night! We went out on a double, double date with Roni and her husband and 2 of their friends. We had an amazing time! We met for a drink before hand since we couldn't get reservations until 8 and then we ate at PF Changs. We laughed pretty much the entire dinner - everyone got along great and I can't wait to do it again soon. It is always great to meet new couples and make new friends!

**Another note!! Roni brought some of her cookies for Jimmy and I to taste test last night and let me tell you...they were amazing! Jimmy already has me making him a batch as soon as the recipe is out!! You will have to go to her site and make some of her yummy LOW POINT moist delicious cookies!!**

Alright - my list of things to do tonight is HUGE and it is 8pm, my head hurts and I need to get off the computer and get started on them! Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

Let's See...

What’s new…

A lot – first off we took Charley to her first visit with Santa last night. It went over well…well I guess…there were no tears, no fear, no screaming, no emotion pretty much. Here is a picture – see if you can get what I am saying. She was great, but there were no smiles either – it was weird – kind of like Halloween – where she was just like “ok Mom and Dad, lets get this over with, take your pictures and lets go home”

So I can’t say she had fun…but we did have a successful picture on Santa’s lap – which my Mom seems to think “if she is anything like you were Carrie – it will be the last picture with Santa – until she realizes he is the one bringing her gifts” :) So we’ll see.

In other news…Last week when I went for my pre-op physical – which I feel ashamed to say was my first physical in A LOT of years – not that she really did anything but still. I had to have blood drawn for my surgery tests so I asked them to run a test on my thyroid to see if it was normal or low - since I felt like I have been experiencing possible symptoms I thought I'd ask just to see. Well it comes back that I have a low thyroid and she is going to prescribe me some medicine. I haven't gotten the medicine yet though since my Dr was supposed to call it in and hasn't yet. We'll see how it goes, maybe it will help to get my last few pounds off, though I don't want to use it as an excuse but it might have something to do with it.

I am going to continue to work out like I have been and eat within my points regardless...so we'll see.

On another note - Jimmy and I are signing up for our first 1/2 marathon. We are going to run the Shamrock Half in Virginia Beach the weekend before my 30th birthday. So half marathon training starts January 4th.

Alright - I need to finish watching Survivor and then get to bed. I am planning an early morning workout tomorrow so that I can get my gym time in since we have a double date with Roni and her husband tomorrow night. I can't wait...we have a babysitter and everything :)

Have a great Friday tomorrow!!

All Clear

Sinus surgery went well today - I am home and being well taken care of by my amazing husband. It was rough not getting to eat all day - my surgery wasn't until 12:45 - and I had to go to work in the morning. I know if I could have just slept in and not gotten up until around 10-11 then I'd have been fine, but getting up at 5:45, getting ready and going to work was rough. The drive to work was the worst I think because the entire drive all I was doing was sitting there thinking about what I wanted to eat and how hungry I was!

The worst part of the surgery was how bad my throat hurt afterward from the breathing tube. I told Jimmy I am a sore throat wuss since I have NEVER had strep throat or anything (knock on wood) so I don't know what a sore throat feels like. But a milkshake helped that. :)

I just finished half of a present for Sarah's little Max who will be coming soon! I can't wait to send them their gifts :) I really like them and think they are so cute!! I am just waiting on something to come in the mail that I need to finish the last part...then it will be off in the mail!

Now I am just waiting for my good drugs to take effect so I can go to sleep.

The one thing I am not looking forward to is the fact that I am going to be on a hefty dose of steroids for 3 weeks...which means I am going to blow up...and I can't work out for 2 weeks. No basketball and no running :(

My friend T just called to tell me my nephew Jax (her Golden pup who likes to roll in the mud) swallowed a whole tennis ball...she thinks. So she was on her way to the Pet ER. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he didn't and all is ok. She said he is acting normal...so hopefully he is going to be fine and won't need surgery...because as I know after 3 dog surgeries...they aren't cheap!

Alright...off to work on my parent's Christmas card.

Have a great night.

Jingle Bell Run - with WIND and FLURRIES!!

We got up this morning to go do the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis...and we got downtown by the harbor and it was WINDY and COLD!! Oh wow - we contemplated going home! But we stayed and ran and I am glad we did. The 5K was fun - there were tons of people and a lot of them were dressed up in holiday outfits - some a lot funnier then others :)

I pushed Charley in the stroller so that Jimmy could just run - and boy oh boy was it tough with the wind!! At some points I had to hold onto the stroller with both hands and it was pulling me off course! The wind came out of no where and would take the stroller and me for a ride!! And then when we were almost 1/2 way through the flurries started. I did pretty good for pushing her and with the wind! Here is the run from my Nike+ it is up down and all over the place because of the hills and wind! 31 minutes was just fine with me considering the conditions!

And here I am after the race with my running partner :)

Yesterday we ventured to a park in DE to try and get some family pictures of us and the doggies. Well it was a little bit of an adventure! The dogs were all over the place - well behaved considering - only one dog went into the water and got a little muddy. Charley was a trooper until her little hands got way too cold. A friend of mine Margie and her daughter took the shots. They both had some great ideas for neat pictures. I do have a few of them on my camera since I let Margie borrow my camera to use, but I am going to wait to post any of the pictures until she sends me some. I can't wait to see the ones her daughter took. They both kept saying how we had to go back there in the spring when the daffodils are out - and I am totally in for that and can't wait...but no doggies that time - oh and by then Charley will be walking - so it should be a lot of fun.

Alright I have to run...I have our first bastketball game this afternoon. Wish me luck. We only have one sub and I took last season off since I was pregnant! Our team name is The Has Beens :) I play on a team with all of the girls I played with in college and a few others we have picked up along the way. It is a lot of fun...but we'll see how well I play!

Oh and I am down 1 pound this week!

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

3 x 2

I went to the gym both today and yesterday and took Charley to the day care and she made it the full 60 minutes both times with NO TEARS! For some reason the only time she cries is when I walk in the room and she sees me, then the tears start to flow. At least she misses me :)

Well as for the title of my post...I ran 3 miles yesterday and 3 today - and lifted arms yesterday and legs today. It was great to get to go and workout in the middle of the day when I am usually at home with Charley all day. We are running in a Jingle Bell 5k for Arthritis on Sunday - so I wanted to get a little bit of running in and it felt great!

There were 2 Dr's appointments today - one for me where I found out that my pneumonia is GONE BABY! My follow up CT Scan showed NADA. Great news...so now I can have my sinus surgery on Monday.

The 2nd Dr's appointment was Charley's 9 month appointment. She did great! Didn't even flinch when they pricked her finger for a test - though there were a few tears when she got her one shot. But she was a trooper. Here are her stats - 29 1/2" which is above the 95th percentile, and 22lb 11oz which is in the 90-95th percentile. So she is a tall little girl :)

Tomorrow we are headed to a park up north to meet my friend Margie and her daughter who are being brave enough to attempt to take pictures of us...our entire family - the 3 of us and the 3 dogs :) It will be fun and interesting to say the least. I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out. I have an adorable outfit picked out for Charley.

Well tonight I have been baking cookies for a cookie exchange party tomorrow night. I only had 1/2 of one of the bad for you cookies to make sure they tasted ok - since I had never made them before. I also made Diet Coke and Zingers 1 point cookies...which are AMAZING! I wasn't sure at first, but they are great! They are like a cake cookie...yummy.

I think that is all for now - we got our tree in the house and up tonight - no decorations yet. I will post a pic when it is complete. Also for those of you who are waiting to see a video of Charley crawling - it is coming...I got 2 short videos the other day and am going to try for one this weekend and will pick the cutest and get it posted.

I hope you all have a great weekend!!

A Whole New World...

Sorry for the lack of posts lately...

I am now living in an entirely different world then I was one week ago. We now have a TOTALLY mobile and CRAWLING baby. Yes - she went from maybe crawling a foot then sitting up - to all of a sudden crawling like a mad woman all the way across the room!

Though it is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen and if I can figure out how to get a video of it and put in on here you all can see it. She is so excited that she can crawl and go somewhere that the entire time she is crawling she is giggling with delight! It is so freaking cute!

Now here is where the whole new world thing comes in - before I could sit her in the living room with some toys and pack my lunch, do my hair and make up for work and pack her stuff for the day. Well not any more. I put her on the floor in the living room this morning and went to fix my hair about 20 feet from her in the powder room and I was in there for like 10 seconds and heard the giggle and looked out and there she is crawling with purpose toward the dog bowl. So I go and grab her and move her to the opposite side of the room. I go back to try and do my hair...and then 15 seconds later, I hear the giggle again...there she goes this time toward Tucker's crate...I go and get her...move her back. I do this the ENTIRE time I am trying to get ready. It took me about 3 times as long to get ready...and I was late for work.

Next time there will have to be a new plan - which I am sad to say means waking up A LOT earlier - before she gets up and getting ready so when she is up all I have to do is feed her and get her out the door. Eh. Jimmy started a new job on Monday and he can't be late to it, so he isn't much help in the morning...he is amazing all other times...just not a morning guy.

Thanksgiving was great - well except that Jimmy woke up that morning not feeling well and didn't think he could do the 10k - so we tried to find a 5k - found one, but made it there too late. So we just headed to my parents house and went for a 3 mile run on the trail with Charley. Here is our running buddy in her stroller with her new wind shield that kept her nice and warm during the cold run. Looks like she enjoyed it huh? :)

My food journaling this week has been non-existent - not bad, but non existent. I have too much going on and am SO freaking busy I can't even find time to breathe it seems.

It started on Monday morning...driving to work all is fine and dandy - I go to get off the exit to my office and I lose all power - all steering - braking - Everything on my car. It was quite scary. Luckily the way I was headed when I got off the exit was in the direction of the shoulder so I made it there and shut off the car. The bad part was it was a very sharp and very blind curve of an exit. So I sat there with my seat belt on just waiting to get slammed into...that was a fun time. I called Jimmy who was meeting his boss at Starbucks to take him to the new office (his boss is a good friend of mine) and they were on their way to the office about 5 min from where I was. So they came over - and while they were on their way I called #77 to tell the police my car broke down and where it was and they took all of my information and asked if they should call a tow truck. I said "no thanks, I'll call one when I get to work" and he told me that I shouldn't leave my car there, because they are stealing SUV's off of the side of the road like hotcakes and ripping out the catalytic converters. So I tell him to call the tow truck (even though I knew my parents have a plan with free towing) because I figure - it is only 3 miles to work so how bad can it be. OH just a flat rate of $150!!!! That was fun, spending $150 before 8am on a Monday morning 4 weeks before Christmas.

But it only gets better...I use my parents free towing to have it towed to the shop by my house where we always get car work done and they guy is really hot - um I mean NICE yes NICE ;) Well it arrives at 11am on Monday - and by when they close at 6pm they still don't know what is wrong with it...they need to keep it till Tuesday - no biggie - I am off on Tuesday and watching my friends daughter and can't go anywhere with her and Charley so it is ok. Well it takes them until 2:30pm on Tuesday to find out that it is - the idle motor - which they assume is like a $200 part and would be like $350 with labor - well he calls to check on getting the part and they said it was $500!! WHAT!?!? Well it turns out it was a whole unit and not just the motor. So it would be $650 with the labor. So between the 2 days - $800 down the drain.

Now I shouldn't complain because the car is paid off, it has about 150K miles on it and this is the (knock on wood) FIRST problem I have EVER had with it. And they could have charged us the 8+ hours of labor to figure out what was wrong with it and they didn't - and he said they did an induction service thinking that would fix it and when it didn't they didn't charge us for that either - which was $135. So we made out in the end...even though we made out with spending a lot of money we didn't need to spend right before Christmas.

Anyways...tomorrow the plan is to head to the gym after Charley's morning nap so hopefully she will be ok at the daycare all rested and fed and I can get in a good 3+ mile run.

She still has an earache - she won't leave her ears alone and her last day of meds is tomorrow - then her 9 month appointment is on Friday - so hopefully they will check that out and get it taken care of then. I can't wait to find out how tall she is and how much she weighs. She is getting so big!

We went and got our Christmas tree on Sunday - I have a lot of cute pictures to share - but that will be in another post as this one is way too long as it is!!

oh yeah -one quick thing - I decided to go with the sure thing job (3 days a week) but haven't heard anything back from the guy about it yet - I don't know the salary or anything yet. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that the salary and everything works out and I will be starting the new year with a new job!

Hope all of you are doing well...

Keep rocking BLBE'ers!! We are almost to the end!!
