Yes...I spent 3 1/2 long days in the hospital this past week. So 27 weeks in started out a little rough...and now I am already 28 weeks!! 12 more to go...unreal.
ok, so now I am sure I have you all wondering why I was in the hospital. First and foremost, let me tell you the baby is OK. The baby was never involved in the reason I was in the hospital and has been strong and healthy all along. Well I guess I can't say the baby was never involved in why I was in the hospital...he/she was probably the root of the cause...but then how can I get mad at such a little baby :)
So Wednesday morning I woke up with a little back pain. No biggie...I have been sleeping like crap and usually wake up with one ache or another from the weird ways I have been laying when I sleep. So I think nothing of it at all and get up and go to work like usual. So a pretty normal day at work...until about 3pm, when I start to feel warm...kind of like hot flashes and chills and just weird. I was really hoping that I wasn't getting the flu or something. Then when I got up out of my chair to leave to go home, the right side of my back hurt really bad, like a pain I have NEVER felt before in my life.
So on Wednesdays I go and referee an adult sports league and this was my last night, playoffs. So I had to go...I knew the guy who ran the league would be there, and if I still felt bad I'd tell him and go home. So I drove to the arena and got some breadsticks on the way there, because I wasn't really hungry, but I knew I needed to eat. So I ate a little and then went to work. When I got there I felt fine. I was there for about 20 min and my back pain came back in full force. I couldn't sit or stand...nothing felt comofortable or made the pain any more bearable. So I told Mike and I left.
I went home and took a warm bath since that usually takes the back pain away. That didn't work. I tried to sleep, laid in bed, couldn't get comforatable any way I laid. So 1030 rolled around and I called Jimmy at work and told him he had to come home and take me to the hospital. He freaked out of course, thinking it was the baby, though I told him it wasn't and knew it wasn't. The baby was kicking up a storm, not helping the pain much, but all the same it was great to still feel him/her knowing they were fine.
We got to labor and delivery at about 1115pm and I got into a room at about 1125. Those 10 min were the longest and most excrutiating of my life. I was pacing in the waiting room...thinking over and over again...what did I get myself into?! This is unbearable. Well to make a long story short...3 tests later (including one ultrasound where we got a little glimpse of the baby...it is SO BIG!) and about 3 hours later, I was in a room in the anti-partum wing with an IV and pain meds and was feeling A LOT better. Come to find out after they got back a bunch of tests by Saturday morning before I got discharged, that I had a kidney infection and 2 kidney stones. eh.
I wish this upon NO ONE. It was the worst pain I have ever felt. Luckily after I got my IV that was the last I felt of that pain. The nurses kept telling me that having kidney stones was worse then having labor...I don't know if I consider that a good thing or not. But at least when I come to the hospital to have the baby, they will know that is what is going on and I won't have to wait 3 hours for pain medicine!!!
So that was the end of my last week and most of my weekend. Pretty eventful, until I got admitted to the hospital...then it just consisted of watching TV, lying in bed and eating nasty hospital food.
I am heading back to work tomorrow after taking today off to get done some of the stuff that I didn't get to do over the weekend. Not too excited to go back to work, but then when am I ever :)
I hope that everyone else had a great weekend. Here is to week 28 being a lot better then week 27!!
Adios :)

Oh my goodness -- I'm so glad both you AND baby are ok! Kidney stones sound like no fun at all! Glad they were able to figure out what it was and get you all fixed up though!
Week 28 is going to be MUCH better than 27. I can just feel it :)
I have heard many people say that Kidney stones are worse than labor but then I have never felt a kidney stone. I am glad everything ok and it was just kidney stones and nothing worse (even though I am sure you are saying what - I was in horrible pain). I am glad to hear the baby is fine.
They say all this lack of sleep helps prepare you for when the baby arrives... Frankly, I think it's completely unfair, I think one should be able to stock up on as much sleep as is humanly possible.
Wow - see? Compared to kidney stones, labor will be a snap! hehe
My sis-in-law had kidney stones during her pregnancy too and she agreed it's definately worse than labor. It'll be interesting to see what you think after all is said and done.
Glad you're doing well now - I can't believe you're 27 weeks already...OY - time flies!
